OUR STORY

New Vision for Life Church started as a ministry for women that met on a monthly basis. One day the LORD spoke to, then known as, Minister Etta Banks and said “Out of this, the church will grow.” She was very confused. Out of what, and what church? She looked again, and with her spiritual eye, she saw the women of the ministry with their families. This was no longer a monthly women’s meeting, but a full blown church.

On September 1, 2002, her pastor, Carolyn Coleman-Seawell and Apostle Christina Holtsclaw called her into the office and shared with her that the LORD told them it was time to release her to pastor a church. With their support, we had our first service on September 7, 2002. We officially incorporated the Church in September 2002 with the state of Maryland. We had services on Saturday evenings and Bible study on Wednesday nights, which allowed us to continue to attend our parent church on Sunday mornings, Tuesday and Friday nights.

Etta Banks was licensed in 1994 as a Minister. In September 2002, she became Pastor-Elect. On January 5, 2003 she was ordained and installed as Pastor of New Vision for Life Deliverance Worship Center.

In May 2004, we moved to 3613 Eitemiller Rd where we were hosted by Windy Jordan and her Christian Academy, Joy Dine Focus. That year we join World Assembly of Restoration (WAR) under the leadership of Apostle James D. Nelson, of Randallstown, MD and changed our name to New Vision for Life Kingdom Builders. We spent 8 years in this lovely location. The fellowship between the ministry and the school was very rewarding. Due to the school’s growth and expansion, we had to relocate.

In 2006, Apostle Winston Trought and Pastor Jackie Trought, of Covenant on the Rock Family Ministry became our covering/overseer. Pastor Banks was then ordained to the Office of Bishop in 2008.

In February 2012, we moved to Owings Mills, Maryland to share a space with Pastor James Manigault of Preparing the Way of the LORD Ministries. This was a good fit, as they were Sabbath Worshippers which allowed us to worship on Sundays. However, as fate would have it, the lease ended in March 2013, leaving us once again to find another location.

In April 2013, we were blessed to find a place to call home in Security Plaza. In 2015, Bishop Banks was consecrated to the office an Apostle by Apostle Winston Trought. We remained in Security Plaza until 2020. Due to the onset of the COVID Pandemic, we decided to give to up the building which we were paying rent for and yet not occupying. We were totally virtual for 5 years.

During that time, in 2022, we came under the covering of Apostle Jonathan and Pastor Raequael Patterson, Senior Leaders of Abba’s House. Apostle Patterson is the founder of Cadre Apostolic Network, a dynamic alliance of church and marketplace leaders dedicated to accountability, encouragement, equipping, impartation, sharing, and partnership.

In January 2025, we were able to purchase our present home church location at 6426 Kriel Street, Gwynn Oak, Maryland 21207. We are now in a residential area where we believe God will use us to be a blessing to the community and help us fulfill the vision that He gave us in 2002. We are looking forward being a support to the people of the community and neighboring communities. In the short time we have been here, God has allowed us to also complete another stage of the vision and we opened New Vision for Life Academy, a christian school with an individualized and independent curriculum for children in grades kindergarten to 12th grade.

The favor of the LORD has been with us as GOD continues to bless us over and over again.
